Since May 29, 2026, a public-private partnership has existed between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS.org). This implicitly calls into question the guidelines of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), and consequently also those of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) and the Swiss Society for Infectious Diseases (SSI).

The U.S. now relies on the expertise and recommendations of ILADS.org for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Lyme Switzerland has been collaborating with ILADS since its founding in 2024: The association participates in an ILADS congress annually, making it the most up-to-date organization in Switzerland regarding the latest North American innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of the three Bs (Borrelia, Babesia, Bartonella).
